The National Service
Personnel Association of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (NASPA-GPHA)
has donated undisclosed amount of money in support of a seventeen-year- old hole-in-heart
patient, Christopher Boateng, to undergo surgery.
Television Africa, an
Accra based Television station, is currently running an advert on the plight of
Christopher, soliciting donations for the young man who doctors say needs about
GHc 14,000 before his condition will be restored.
Presenting the cash on
behalf of NASPA-GPHA, the president, Mr. Emmanuel Quarcoo, disclosed that the Association
was motivated by the desire to help Christopher undergo surgery after watching
the advert on TV Africa. According to Mr. Quarcoo, the donation forms part of
the Association’s week celebrations which began on Monday July 17.
Mr. Nii Tettey Ablorh,
the News Coordinator for TV Africa, who received the donation on behalf of Christopher,
thanked the Association for the kind gesture adding that it was timely. He
promised that the donation will be used for the intended purpose.
Mr. Ablorh also used
the opportunity to call on all benevolent organisations, civil societies and
the general public to come forth with their donations to save the life of the
young man.
