According to a report by anti-galamsey advocate and campaigner Erastus Asare Donkor on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, the arrested suspects were caught by NAIMOS actively engaging in galamsey along the Subri River at Bekwai Subrisu in the Western Region.
The suspects were also reported to have been using excavators and other mining equipment, causing pollution to the river.
According to Asare Donkor, other rivers connected to the Subri River in the area have also been affected, with surrounding lands degraded.
