Fijai (W/R), July 8, GNA - Mr. Benedict Louis Anyelom Anaba, Western Regional Director of Centre for National Culture (CNC), has announced that the National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFAC 2010) would be held in Tamale from November 20-27 this year.
He said that it would be celebrated on the theme: "NAFAC-Promoting Unity, Technology and Wealth Creation for a Better Ghana: The Role of the Youth in Nation Building".
Mr. Anaba, who was speaking at a stakeholders' meeting on the Western Regional Festival of Arts and Culture, at Fijai near Takoradi on Wednesday, said that the national event was aimed at showcasing Ghana's rich culture and promoting creative Arts for the global market. He said that NAFAC 2010 would reinforce the unity of the country through cultural interaction and underscore the critical role diverse culture play in national development.
Mr. Anaba said that this was in line with the National Democratic Congress manifesto that seeks to develop and strengthen the creative Arts industry for international trade. He said that the national event would open up Ghana for cultural tourism to generate more income for development and showcase its natural endowment to enhance investment opportunities. Mr. Anaba also announced that the Western Regional Festival of Arts and Culture would be held from September 10-11 this year in Sekondi-Takoradi. He said that a special session on Hi-Life music would form part of the festival because of the Region's great contribution to the development of Hi-Life in the country.
Mr. Anaba said that the Regional Festival that would be organised through out the country would be preceded by District Festivals of Arts and Culture, which would be organized and funded by the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies to display the cultural heritage and potentials of the various areas.
