NADMO comes to aid of fire victims

Atesikrom (B/A), Feb. 23, GNA - The Dormaa District office of the National Disaster Management Organisation has presented relief items worth GHC 3,000 to Atesikrom, near Dormaa-Ahenkro where a fire outbreak rendered 140 people homeless. The items comprised three bags of rice, cooking oil, student mattresses and a quantity of used clothing. Presenting the items Squadron Leader Benjamin Anane Asamoah (rtd), the District Chief Executive, expressed regret at how people in the district were becoming adamant to both national regulations and the district assembly's bye-laws on bushfire control. Mr. Kofi Asante, District NADMO Coordinator, said the consignment comprised the little that the office had in stock and that the regional NADMO secretariat would respond appropriately to their plight. He appealed to the community to volunteer information on bushfire offenders and to assist the district to find lasting solutions to the annual fire disasters. Baffour Atosi Ababio, Chief of Atesikrom, thanked the NADMO secretariat and the District Chief Executive for the items and assured them of the people's cooperation in averting bushfires and all other disasters in the area.
