A nominee for the Supreme Court bench Justice Yaw Apau has revealed that his first experience in the courtroom as a lawyer was terrible.
According to him, he was still under-studying his senior colleagues at a law firm in Cape Coast after law school when he nearly met his fire baptism.
He told the Appointments Committee of Parliament Tuesday that he had once been asked to take the lead in court by a senior colleague when accidently, the judge called their cases first.
He explained that the situation caused him so much discomfort that he had to plead with the judge to adjourn the cases since he did not feel competent enough to argue them out.
“I told the judge I wouldn’t want to embarrass the bar and also the bench but if he allowed me to continue with the case today, I would end up embarrassing the bar and the bench all altogether,” he narrated.
