MultiChoice Ghana has invested over GH¢200 million in the country's creative industry, as announced by Managing Director Alex Okyere.

This announcement was made on March 2, 2026, at MultiChoice Ghana, emphasising the company's dedication to the local entertainment sector.

In an interview with GhanaWeb's Naomi Panyin Appiah-Danquah, Okyere discussed the impact of these investments.

“Five years ago, we embarked on a bold journey to create a different narrative for Ghana, to tell Ghanaian stories, elevate local talent, and provide our filmmakers, actors, writers, and technical teams with a platform where their craft could shine. Since we launched Akwaaba Magic five years ago, we have invested over 200 million Ghanaian cedis, and that deserves a lot of applause,” he stated.

He also highlighted the significance of supporting Ghanaian content creators, noting the positive effects on job creation and economic growth within the industry.

The investment underscores MultiChoice Ghana's commitment to fostering a vibrant and thriving creative ecosystem in the country.

“Akwaaba Magic has become more than just a channel; it has turned into a cultural force. We have showcased powerful narratives that reflect the heartbeat of our society—our joys, challenges, humour, resilience, and aspirations,” he added.

This substantial financial commitment demonstrates a strong belief in Ghanaian talent and the future of the nation's entertainment industry.

Additionally, this investment aims to enhance both the quality and quantity of local content available to audiences.

He concluded by saying, “From drama to comedy to reality and documentary, the diversity of our content has revitalised the creative landscape and sparked new conversations about what is possible for Ghanaian film and television.”
