The wife of the former Vice President, Mrs Matilda Amissah-Arthur has advised children in various orphanages to take their education serious by learning and working hard.

She also advised the children to respect their caregivers who serve as their parents in the home.

Mrs Amissah-Arthur gave the advice when she donated food items and educational materials to the Raffiki Orphanage owned by the Methodist Church at Winneba in the Central Region.

The Raffiki Orphanage was established as result of collaboration between the Methodist Church and Raffiki, a Christian Charitable organization.

The objective for setting up the orphanage was to build a school to cater for deprived, marginalized and neglected children in the society.

Some of the food items which were donated to the orphanage included bags of rice, cooking oil, candies and soft drinks. The educational materials were pens, pencils and books to support the children.

Mrs Amissah-Arthur, who is a friend of the Home, also stated that it had been her practice to visit orphanages in the country which helped to bring out the best in children who were less privilege in the society.

She commended the managers of the facility and the caregivers for going out of their way, with often inadequate resources, to cater for the disadvantaged in society.

She used the occasion to wish the children and the staff well and promised to visit them from time to time.

Mrs Amissah-Arthur some few years ago supported the orphanage with materials to construct the JHS block for the school.
