A 42-year-old mother and her 25-year-old daughter have died during labour at the Assesewa Government Hospital.
The deceased persons, Mable Maku Tekpertey and Sarah Tekpertey, mother and daughter respectively have been buried side by side at their Dawatrim village in near Assesewa.
The bereaved family blames medical ineffectiveness at the Assesewa Hospital for the harrowing incidents which occurred in two weeks interval.
The late Mabel Maku Terkpertey died at the Regional Hospital, Koforidua (RHK) after she developed life threatening complications following a ceaseran section at the Asesewa Government Hospital after which she was referred to the regional Hospital where she passed away. However, her Nineth (9) baby survived.
Two weeks later, Sarah Terkpetey,25, went to labour at the Asesewa Hospital but according to Medical report, she suffered ‘obstructed labour’ and died with the baby.
This account by the Hospital has not gone down well with the family which is accusing the Hospital of medical negligence leading tp the death of Sarah.
According to them, when the deceased was sent to the hospital around 9am while contraction had set in hence was expecting the Doctors to perform Ceaseran Section cognizant that she could not deliver through the vagina because the baby was too big as they were made aware.
