The Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Accra has announced that effective June 6, 2025, holders of ordinary Ghanaian passports will only need to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization to Morocco (ETAM) prior to departure.

In a press release dated June 10, 2025, it said Ghanaian citizens no longer require a visa to travel to Morocco, following a new bilateral agreement between the two countries.

The decision comes after diplomatic discussions held on June 5 in Rabat between Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita; and Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.

“It has been decided that with immediate effect, Ghanaian citizens holders of ordinary passports do no longer need Visa to enter Morocco,” the statement said.

According to the embassy, travelers can apply for the ETAM online via the official portal https://www.acces-maroc.ma.

The process replaces the previous visa requirement for ordinary passport holders, streamlining entry procedures and promoting increased travel between the two nations.

It was also clarified that holders of Ghanaian Diplomatic, Service, and Special passports were already exempted from both visa and ETAM requirements.

For further inquiries, travelers may contact the Moroccan Embassy at 0570 692 450.

This development is expected to strengthen bilateral relations and encourage greater cooperation in tourism, trade, and cultural exchange between Ghana and Morocco.
