‘Money ritual snake’ strangles sakawa boy to death at Damongo

A Sakawa boy in Damongo in the Northern Region of Ghana has been strangled to death by a ritual python, MyNewsGH.com has learnt.

The Sakawa boy whose name is yet to be given allegedly procured the python from a Ritualist from the Tamale Metropolis ostensibly for the reptile to vomit money for him after some number of days.

MyNewsGH.com was told by eyewitnesses that the late Sakawa boy failed to follow the steps he was given by his ritualist before approaching the snake in a black box he was given.

Realizing the danger he was in as the snake was making attempts to attack him when he freed it, he ran out with the box by which time the snake had coiled itself around his wrists and made for his neck.

Bystanders videoed the incident afraid or unable to help out of fear for the spiritual repercussion.

This is not the first time Sakawa boys have died under such circumstances.

Last year, MyNewsGH.com reported how a 24-year old man believed to be part of a group of ‘Sakawa boys’ died on the spot after coming into contact with water.

His friends confessed that the closely knit group solicited for spiritual assistance to make ends meet and also promote their music career.

Collins however failed to abide by the rules and regulations of the Sakawa which included the order that they should not bath for some time.



On the occasion when he and his other four friends went to the poolside at the Awutu Forest Grove Hostel to drink, Collins after taking excessive alcohol forgot the rules and decided to go swimming at the venue.

He was said to have died immediately after coming into contact with the water in the pool.

His death was confirmed by the Awutu Breku District Police Commander, ASP Johnson Hessay who said the police are still investigating the matter.
