Ghanaian midfielder Anthony Annan has said he is open to an invitation from new Black Stars coach Charles Kwabla Akonnor.

Speaking in an interview with Kumasi-based Akoma FM, the Finland-based player said should his services be needed, he would come.

“I am available for selection if [CK Akonnor] needs me,” Annan said.

He added: ‘’I am still playing active football in Finland. Ghana is my country and I cannot turn my back to my nation if my services are needed.

“I don’t know much about C.K Akonnor but I know he was selected based on his competence and I believe with our support, he can surely deliver.”

Annan, once a crucial part of the Black Stars, has featured for several clubs in a career that has seen him play for Schalke 04, Vittesse Arnhem, 1860 Munich, HJK, Osasuna, IK Start, and Rosenberg among others.

His last outing with the Black Stars was in 2013 during the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.

He received his first national team call up in 2007 for two International friendlies against Austria and Brazil, replacing Michael Essien, who had recorded an injury at the time.
