Mobos Fashion, the Nigerian fashion powerhouse known for its elegant silhouettes and bold celebration of African femininity, has officially opened its doors in Ghana.
The launch, which took place over the weekend, marks the brand’s first expansion outside Nigeria. For founder Omobowale Irene Biobaku, the moment is deeply personal.
More than a business move, the Accra opening signals a quiet but confident shift in African fashion retail, one led by women, rooted in craft, and driven by purpose.
For nearly 25 years, Mobos Fashion has dressed African women for real life. What began in Biobaku’s study has grown into six thriving retail locations across Lagos and Abuja. Each store is designed as a curated space where women do more than shop. They are seen, celebrated, and styled for the lives they actually live.
Mobos Fashion understands the modern African woman because it was built by one. A woman balancing boardrooms and school runs, cultural events and quiet Sundays, all while needing a wardrobe that moves effortlessly through every part of life.
The collections reflect this reality. Timeless cuts blend with contemporary African aesthetics. Modesty meets bold expression. Every piece, from flowing dresses and structured blazers to statement handbags and carefully crafted shoes, is designed for women who refuse to choose between comfort and style.
Accra has become a meeting point for African excellence and Pan-African creativity. For Mobos Fashion, expanding into Ghana is about more than geography. It is about building bridges, sharing stories, and proving that African brands can dream and grow across borders.
“We’re not coming to Ghana to be visitors,” Biobaku says. “We’re coming home. This is about sisterhood across borders, about showing that African women, whether in Lagos, Accra, or anywhere, deserve retail experiences that honour who we are and everything we’re becoming.”
Beyond fashion, Mobos Fashion is focused on impact. The brand is committed to raising African retail standards, inspiring emerging entrepreneurs, and creating spaces where style meets purpose. The Accra store is expected to serve as a hub for community engagement, education, collaborations, and future pan-African initiatives.
“This is more than a store opening,” said founder and CEO Omobowale Irene Biobaku. “It’s a statement that African brands can begin modestly, grow with integrity, and stand confidently on the global stage. Ghana represents unity, creativity, and opportunity, and we are honoured to be part of its fashion story.”
Mobos Fashion’s mission remains clear: to redefine African retail, set new standards of excellence, and inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs watching from their own car boots and study rooms.
The Accra launch marks Mobos Fashion’s first retail location outside Nigeria and sets the tone for future growth across Africa and beyond.
