Miss Ghana Pageant: Beauties descend on Accra

THE countdown to Ghana’s biggest entertainment package of the year; the grand finale of the Miss Ghana beauty pageant has begun in earnest.

Fifteen out of 18 contesting ladies from nine out of the ten regions of the country, have gathered in the capital to begin their grooming sessions. They will be taken through four weeks of intensive training in etiquette, public speaking and general comportment and also go through rehearsals for the big day. At the time of going to press three of the contestants had not reported. This year, eighteen beauties are expected to contest instead of the usual twenty because the Northern Region missed their turn due to a curfew imposed on the region.

The grooming session will enhance the contestants’ individual personality and invariably bring out the best in them not just for the contest but for life.

The ladies are expected to have better presentational skills when they finally mount the stage on September 7, to present themselves to the audience who will as usual throng the venue to see who becomes the next Miss Ghana and takes home the Seat Ibiza saloon car along with the crown and the opportunity to represent Ghana at the Miss World Beauty Pageant.

This year’s Club Pleasure Miss Ghana Pageant is going to be a keen competition among Ahedor Aku Sika Euphemia and Hamza Sahadatu Sename of the Eastern Region, Shaida Buari and Dove Luguchegi of the Western Region, and Sandra Ankobiah and Aduna Nafisa Evelyn of the Ashanti Region.

The remaining contestants are Angela Quartey Papafio and Ekuadzi Ofori of the Volta Region; Patience Aniah, Ruth Anima Mpare of the Upper West and Sandra Darkwa, Tornye Amedume of the Greater Accra Region.

Nandara Christiana, Beverly Asamoah Jecty and Sheila Chanase of the Upper West, Brong Ahafo and Central Regions will also be contesting though their counterparts in their regions have not reported yet.
