Miss Africa New Jersey 2013 to be held in July

Miss Africa New Jersey 2013 will be held in Newark, New Jersey on 13 July at Prince Hall.

Ghana's contestant has been announced as Ms Abena Boachie.

The Miss African New Jersey Beauty Pageant is intended to provide entertainment and enlightenment about African arts and culture to the audience and benefits and opportunities for the contestants.

Their goal is to promote the African culture and performing arts development and awareness of our arts, customs, culture, and history through this Miss African New Jersey Beauty Pageant.

The Miss Africa New Jersey website says: "There are several young gifted African women who are striving to achieve their goals, and are well on their way to success. We want to be able to bring them together to motivate each other.

"If we do not support our African queens, no one else will. Being miss Africa new jersey is not only about having a pretty face or nice body, it’s about having goals and aspirations, as well as self confidence in any and everything that you desire to accomplish."

Last year's winner was Liberian Ucee Guzeh, a student of Essex County College, NJ.
