Ministerial Reshuffle

The President, John Agyekum Kufour, according to reports has decided to go ahead with the intended ministerial reshuffle. According to a close aide the President cannot please everybody all the time. He said, some are bound to be dissatisfied with the reshuffle.

According to reports, the last-time the President made the declaration of a possible ministerial shuffle at a cabinet meeting, the various ‘interest blocs’ within government then fell on their media allies to leak the information of the possible changes. This, consequently, embarrassed the President.

A source close to the Presidency has revealed that, the President having recovered from that embarrassment has now learnt his lesson and keeping things secretly this time round. Credible sources have also hinted that, the criterion for the possible reshuffle is security reports on the ministers regarding their conduct, allegations of corruption, comportment, performance and ethnic balancing.

There are also reports of possible increment on the number of female ministers of state. The President sees this reshuffle as a major task; bearing in mind the two major political parities would endorse their candidates for the 2004 presidential election.

As is whether the lobbying by some of the ministers will have any effect, a source close to the President disclosed that, the President recognizes that, he is the Chief Executive Officer of the country and that the buck starts and stops with him.
