The Volta regional minister, Dr. Archibald Letsa has promised to lobby for the completion of projects started by the erstwhile National Democratic Congress (NDC) government led by President John Dramani Mahama.
The minister mentioned specific projects such as the Eastern Corridor road, the Ho Aerodrome and the regional library.
Dr. Letsa said this at the meeting of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs in Ho on Thursday. This is the first time the minister is meeting the chiefs since assuming office as a minister.
The meeting of the House is also to validate the Customary Law on Land and Family under the Ghana Land Administration Project 2 (G-LAP 2).
The minister indicated to the chiefs that the region stands to gain from the creation of a new region out of the Volta region and that they should support the efforts of the President towards achieving this goal.
He also used the opportunity to call on the private sector to take advantage of the tourism potential of the region and invest in it.
He asked for the support of the chiefs in maintaining peace and security in the region.
The minister assured the House that he will lobby the President for the construction of a new Sports Stadium for the region.
Commenting on the minister’s address, the paramount chief of the Avatime traditional area, Osie Adza Tekpor VII was not happy with the inability of the government to consult with traditional rulers on the processes leading to the appointment of chief executives of the various assemblies.
