Minister of Information Ignores GBC Board Decision

The Minister of Information, J O Obetsebi-Lamptey, has ignored GBC management and Board decision to allow work to continue on GBC achieving full television coverage in the country.

His reason is that, the company doing the work did not provide a unit cost price of the project.

When this was put to a source involved in the negotiations, he wrote

“What does he mean? The company won a tender; it provided price breakdown for the project, it went through parliament and ministry of finance approved the funding. What is the Minister's problem? GREED. He wants to frustrate the company, so that they would pull out and he would give the job to his cronies. Mr. Minister, how come you did not ask for a unit cost price for the supply of the information vans? There is a question mark as to the company that won it. Details would come out soon.”

“With regards to the company providing GBC with national TV and radio coverage, government has paid the company $3million (Tax payer's money) as part of the contract. Remember financial loss to the state is a serious crime and it might catch up with you one day and abuse of power can put you in trouble. All eyes are watching. This is the era of Zero tolerance and positive change,” the source continued
