Minister of Defence, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, has inaugurated the new governing board of the Defense Industries Holding Company (DIHOC).

Dr Boamah charged the newly appointed board, led by Deputy Defence Minister Ernest Brogya Genfi, with the responsibility of transforming DIHOC into a pivotal industrial hub that drives Ghana's defence and national development.

“This is not just another ceremony. It is a milestone moment. DIHOC must move from potential to productivity, from vision to visible outcomes,” the Minister said.

Dr Boamah characterised DIHOC as a vital national asset, originally conceived by the late President John Evans Atta Mills and further strengthened by President John Dramani Mahama, who has positioned the company as a key player in several flagship programs.

A key part of this vision is the creation of a Defence Industrial Complex (DIC), which is expected to generate thousands of quality jobs and boost the nation's industrial capabilities and self-sufficiency.

The full members of the board include:

* Emmanuel A. Kartey, Chief Director, Ministry of Defence

* Lt. Gen. William Agyapong, Chief of Defence Staff

* Brig. Gen. Kwaku Dankwa Hagan

* Brig. Gen. Charles Gbekle

* Kojo Gyeke Darko

* Vida Addae

* Emmanuel Drah, Member of Parliament

* Col. John Asabre (Rtd)

The DIC aims to achieve key strategic objectives, including operational independence, emergency preparedness, peacekeeping support, economic diversification, and job creation.

Dr Boamah also emphasised the importance of inter-ministerial collaboration and maintaining high governance standards, stating, "You are stewards of an institution that promises to industrialise our defense, empower our people, create jobs, and safeguard our future."
