Minister blames NPP for economic woes

Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports, Joseph Yammin, has attributed the current harsh economic conditions in the country to the actions of members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He pointed out that investor confidence in the country has dwindled because of the ongoing hearing of the election petition.

Speaking to Kapital Radio, the minister said the NPP doesn’t have good intentions for the country.

“The election petition at the Supreme Court is a calculated attempt by the NPP to draw Ghana back,” he said.

“Ghana is currently facing some economic difficulties. The NPP knows that they don’t have a case but they have decided to go to court to create economic quandaries for the people.

“After the economic problems have been created, the NPP would turn round to blame the government for not doing well.”

Yammin insisted that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) won the 2012 polls genuinely, citing the huge number of votes the NDC recorded in the Ashanti Region, the NPP’s stronghold, to buttress his claim.

He said Nana Akufo-Addo, the 2012 presidential candidate of the NPP is not formidable and expressed surprise at the accusations by the NPP.
