Wa, Nov.16, GNA - Alhaji Issahaque Salia, the Upper West Regional Minister, on Tuesday appealed to Muslims to embrace education and send their children school. He urged them to also ensure that those of their children who are in school remained and complete their basic education, saying: "That is the best investment that we can give to our young ones". Alhaji Salia was addressing members of the Sunni, Ahlsunna and Ahmadiyya Muslim groups who called on him after the Eid-ul-Adha prayers. He said the Wa Islamic Senior High School and other senior high schools in the region would be provided with classrooms and dormitory facilities.
Alhaji Salia said work on the Regional Hospital in Wa would start soon in addition to the upgrading of other health facilities in the region. He urged the Muslims in the region to show concern and commitment for development and progress of the region in particular and the country as a whole by exposing wrong doing such as armed robbery and other criminal activities.
"We should also caution ourselves about road and traffic regulations because we are witnessing preventable accidents which are claiming precious lives daily. Our motorbike riders should exercise restraint on the roads and cooperate with security agencies to reduce accidents", he said.
