Mills attends special thanksgiving service

Cape Coast, March 29, GNA - President John Atta Mills on Sunday reminded Ghanaians that everybody would one day give account of stewardship to God and therefore all must utilize talents profitably for nation-building.

At a special thanksgiving service to express gratitude to God for successful elections in December 2008 which elevated him to the Presidency, President Mills thanked the people in his home Central Region and all Ghanaians, for supporting him.

The service was attended by thousands of people, some of whom were only there to catch a glimpse of President Mills.

In attendance was the Cape Coast Youth Choir which sang inspirational songs to the admiration of the congregation. President Mills said it was the entire country that was offering thanks to God and emphasized that much as God loves the country, it was imperative that everybody played their parts well to lift the country from disunity, backbiting and bickering.

Delivering the sermon on the theme: "The pressures of success," the Chairman of the Church of Pentecost Council, Apostle Opoku Onyinah underscored the need for the gains to be protected by the people by remaining focused and not swollen headed.

He said success attracts status and fame but could also bring in its wake enemies.

He appealed to President Mills to remain steadfast and continue to give credit to God for his success.

Present at the function were paramount chiefs of Oguaa, Abeadzi, Mankessim and Kushea, Queens and Ministers of state, including Mr Mike Hammah, Transport, Mr Kwesi Ahwoi, Food and Agriculture and Mrs Ama Benyiwa-Doe, Central Regional Minister.
