Millions paid to Kwatriot and Justice Taylor by GBC

The "Ghanaian Times" is alleged to have caused the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation to pay damages totalling c9.5 m to Prof. Kwesi Yankah of the University of Ghana and Justice J.N.K. Taylor for defamation, claims the Free Press.

According to the paper, the GBC was ordered by court to pay c3.5m to Prof. Yankah, who writes the "Woes of a Kwatriot" column in the "Mirror", and c6m to Justice Taylor following articles culled from the "Ghanaian Democrat" and the "Ghanaian Times" respectively about the two aggrieved and broadcast over GBC radio in the "From the Ghanaian Papers" series.
