Below is the full statement:

PRESS RELEASE BY MILLENIUM CITY ESTATE DEVELOPERS ON THE RECENT HAPPENINGS AT THE MILLENIUM CITY PROPERTY, KASOA

We the Management of Millennium City Housing Co. Ltd and 21st Century Construction Limited wishes to disassociate ourselves from the recent happenings involving some Military personnel and encroachers on some portions of our land at the MILLENIUM CITY, Kasoa.

We wish to state emphatically that we did not have any hand in the alleged demolishing exercise that occurred on Thursday, 3rd September 2015, as we do not even have any legal backing to embark on such an exercise and wish to further state that the CEO, Mr. Kofi Asmah was not present at any point in time when the alleged demolishing was happening.

As at the time of issuing this statement neither lawful residents nor clients of MILLENIUM CITY have lodged any formal complaints with us or against us at any police station or any state security agency for being affected by the alleged demolishing exercise.

We have confidence in the state security agencies and are prepared to assist them in any investigation of the alleged happenings when the need arise.

Management wishes to sympathize with those who were affected especially the family who lost loved ones and sustained various degrees of injuries as alleged in the media.

NOW THE FACTS The alleged portion of land where the alleged demolishing took place is currently a property of the personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces sold to them by 21st Century Construction Limited with the consent of Nana Obeng Wiabo, the current chief of Gomoa Nyanyano.

All documents pertaining to the said lands have been issued and transferred to the personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces. We also know for a fact that most personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces have individually registered their lands.

Nana Obeng Wiabo did not only give his consent to the Ghana Armed Forces but also to Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) and Mr. Kwame Mpianim, a renowned Economist.

It is also on record that, persons purporting to be land guards are selling portions of the land belonging to personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces to third innocent parties due to delay in development on that section of the land. Hence, we entreat the general public to be very cautious of such people and urge them to take the pains to ascertain the authenticity and ownership of any property they intend to acquire at Millennium City.

We must also state that, if care is not taken there is going to be an influx of land guards at the area, so we are urging the Security agencies to assist in controlling these activities of land guards as they pose threats to human lives and properties at the area.

BACKGROUND

On Thursday, the 3rd day of September 2015, there was a rumor on an alleged demolishing exercise going on at a section of MILLENNIUM CITY. This was aired on many radio stations across the country as a major bulletin on their mid-day news in which we were purportedly referred as the organization or the entity behind the demolishing indicting our Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Kofi Asmah as the brain or the machinery engineering the demolishing.

It was also alleged that the CEO was found at the demolishing ground during the exercise and that affected residents were crying foul of his presence and strongly accusing him as the one behind their misfortunes. The news added that three (3) residents were allegedly injured and consequently resulting in the death of one resident. Hence, there are still alleged fall-outs emanating from the alleged demolishing exercise.
