Mfantsipim School outdoors new uniform in honour of founding fathers

Cape Coast, June 17, GNA - Mfantsipim College on Wednesday unveiled a new school uniform designed to pay homage to the founding fathers of the school, whose struggle and contribution led to the commencement of the academic facility in 1876.

The new uniform comprises a red shirt with black stripes over black shorts, which signifies the contributions of personalities like the Messrs Kwabena Sekyi, John Mensah Sarbah and Mr J.C. Brown, all of blessed memory.

Mr Koame Nieza Edjah, Headmaster who outdoored the new uniform at a ceremony in Cape Coast, explained that the red colour represents the blood shed by the founding fathers, whilst the black colour is in honour of the black race.

He said the new uniform signified a new vision, character and attitude of the school and reminded the students of the need to emulate the founding fathers to enable them to contribute their quota to the upliftment of the school.

Mr Edjah said it would also serve as a unique identity to easily distinguish students of the school from others in the Metropolis, who use the school's previous uniform of peach shirt over khaki shorts. He said it was imperative to easily identify students of the school to enable the authorities instil discipline among those who misbehave outside the campus.

The Headmaster said the school had contributed immensely to the human resource needs of Ghana and the world at large and pledged that the trend would continue.

Students of the school later paraded through some of the principal streets of Cape Coast to display their new uniform to the public.
