Mankessim (C/R), Oct. 12, GNA - The Mfantseman West constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has appealed to members of the National Association of Graduate Teachers currently on strike to return to the classroom while the authorities looked into their demands.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Mankessim on Wednesday, a spokesman of the Party, Mr. Felix Nyarko-Antwi, said no one could deny the teachers the chance to fight for their rights, 'but for the sake of the children whose future is at stake, we plead with you to temper justice with mercy.'
Mr Nyarko-Antwi, who is the first vice chairman of the NPP in the constituency, appealed to the media and the general public to desist from making pronouncements which could inflame passion and prolong the impasse.
He appealed to all parties involved in the negotiation to 'soften their stand' and work toward an early solution of the issues. 'When two elephants fight, it is the grass that suffers and in this case, it is our innocent future leaders who are suffering,' he added.
