Bishop Stephen Ayensu Bosomtwe, Superintendent Minister of the Methodist Church of Ghana, Dzorwulu Congregation, said President Nana Akufo-Addo's comment that homosexuality is bound to be legalized in Ghana were not said in earnest.

According to Bishop Ayensu Bosomtwe, President Nana Akufo-Addo has no intention whatsoever to legalize homosexuality in Ghana, and that he [Akuffo Addo] didn't mean what he said during the interview on Aljazeera.

Speaking on Kumasi based Nhyira FM, the ruling party sympathizer stated that he knows the President, and that there's no way he would legalize homosexuality in Ghana. He also pointed out that President Akufo-Addo's comments were made from a legal standpoint.

“The President is a renowned lawyer and he stated his position based on the law," said the Methodist Bishop. Bishop Ayensu Bosmtwe said that people shouldn't take the President's comments as a sign of him being pro-homosexuality, and that knowing the president, he [Akufo-Addo] would not support homosexuality.

President Akufo-Addo's comments have sparked a storm of words from all across Ghanaian society. Rev. Dr. Kwabena Opuni, General Secretary of the Christian Council, has been very vocal in expressing his discontent regarding the issue.

“Maybe I didn’t hear him well, so somebody should come and explain to us exactly the policy direction of this government as far as same-sex marriage is concerned,” he's insisted.
