Accra, June 3, GNA - Members of the Association of Methodist Men's Fellowship of Ghana on Thursday presented items worth over GH¢2,500 to inmates of Borstal Institute in Accra. They included 25 pieces each of student mattresses, blankets, pillow s and pillow cases, bedsheets, five bags of rice, three bags of maize and 2 0 Holy Bibles.
The presentation formed part of activities marking their 25th anniversary celebration and Sixth Biennial Delegates Conference scheduled
for June 6 in Accra under the theme: "Return to Your First Love (Rev.2:4) ". Mr Stanley Quarshie, National Chairman of the Fellowship said it was
their social responsibility for the needy in society. He called on the inmates to reform and be of good behaviour because their situation should not be the end of their lives but come out with renewed heart and vigour to work hard to survive. Mr Quarshie advised parents who shirked their responsibilities makin g their children to end up at the institute to have a compassionate heart
and feeling for their children. Mrs Florence Asantewaa Appiah, Assistant Director of Prisons said population of the inmates had increased to 115 and each was fed on 60 pesewes per day. She said government alone could not cater for them and appealed for philanthropists, institutions and organisations to come to their aid. 3 June 10
