News reaching MyNewsGh.com indicates that a Member of the Council of State, former Upper West Regional Minister and Former Ghana’s Ambassador to Burkina Faso, Mogtari Sahanun is dead.

His last public appearance sources reveal was at the commissioning of commercial flights to the Upper West Region in recent times.

Former Deputy Agric Minister, Clement Eledi who broke the news on a group platform to his colleagues said “It is rather on a sad note that I announce the demise of Mr. Mogtari Sahanun Former upper west regional minister and Ambassador. May Allah be pleased with his soul”

From 1992 till 2002 Sahanun served as the Upper West regional secretary. From 2001 to 2005, he rose as the regional minister. From 2006 to 2009 Sahanun was the Ambassador to Burkina Faso.

Alhaji Mogtari Sahanun was among Council of State members sworn into office by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Monday 27 February, 2017 at the Banquet Hall, State House.

The Council comprises 11 persons nominated by the president and 14 elected regional representatives.

Mr Akufo-Addo charged them to discharge their duties dispassionately.

The Council of State is enjoined by Article 89 of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution to counsel the President in the performance of his functions.
