Melcom donates to Police Band, Customs

Melcom Care Foundation, the charity wing of the Melcom Group, on Wednesday donated to the Ghana Police Band and Senior Officers of the Ghana Revenue Authority - Customs Division.

The donation to the Ghana Police Band consisted of assorted drinks, while the Senior Officers of Customs got electrical appliances, like pressing irons, blending machines, microwaves ovens and kettles; to support their Seventeenth Keep Fit Health Walk in Aflao in the Volta Region slated for Saturday, May 16.

The items for the Police was received by Deputy Superintendent of Police Dr Frank Hukporti, Director of the Police Central Band; while those of the Customs Division was jointly received by Nana Serwaa Caiquo, Principle Revenue Officer and Clarrisa A. F. Amissah, Assistant Revenue Officer.

Dr Hukporti expressed gratitude to Melcom, and hoped that the cordial relations between the Ghana Police Service and the company would continue to grow from strength to strength.

She said the Customs Commissioner General of Togo would be gracing the ceremony in Aflao in the Volta Region.

The items were presented by Mrs Sonia Sadhwani, Brand Manager to the security officers, Melcom Group of Companies.

Mr Godwin Avenorgbo, Director of Corporate Affairs of the Melcolm Group of Companies, said the donation was part of the Groups' corporate social responsibilities to support the security services.

He said this year, Melcom would also be focusing on education at the basic schools to promote teaching and learning.

He said support would be given to about 2,000 nursery schools, and about 500 to 800 basic schools' infrastructure would be upgraded throughout the country.
