Meet the delegation that accompanied the Acting President to mourn with Otumfuo

Acting President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang joined the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and the entire Asante Kingdom on Thursday, August 21, 2025, to mark the traditional one-week observation of the demise of the Asantemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.

The vice president, who is currently acting as the president of the republic following the absence of President John Dramani Mahama, who is currently outside the country, was accompanied by a host of government functionaries and NDC party stalwarts.

Members of her entourage included NDC's national chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, Chief of Staff, Julius Debbrah, the General Secretary of the party, Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey and the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, among others.

Asantehemaa Nana Konadu Yiadom III is dead

During the visit, the vice president, who signed a book of condolence, was also seen having an inaudible conversation with the overlord of the Asanti Kingdom.

Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II formally announced the demise of the Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, on August 11, 2025.

Since then, all cultural protocols expected to be observed in line with Asante culture and traditions have been strictly adhered to.

The one-week observation of the late Asantehemaa, which finally fell on Thursday, was characterised by a real show of rich Asante culture, customs and tradition.

Many high-profile personalities and corporate institutions have visited Manhyia to commiserate with the King.
