Medeama not ready to participate in Caf inter-club competitions - Club President

The Yellow & Mauve were reported to have shown interest in representing Ghana in the Caf Champions League but the club's owner has denied such claims

Medeama SC owner and president Moses Armah Parker has insisted that they are not ready to participate in Caf inter-club competitions this year.

Following a decision by Ghana football's Normalisation Committee to grant Asante Kotoko the permission to participate in the Caf Confederation Cup, Medeama coach Samuel Boadu had claimed that they have what it takes to take part in the Champions League but the club's owner says they lack financial resources.

"We are not ready to represent Ghana in any Caf competition this year so disregard the reports circulating in the media," Armah told Medeama FM.

"There is no iota of truth in those stories. We don't have the money to play Africa for now, let's all help the Normalisation Committee to put things in place after what happened to the game in this country.

"We suffered a lot in our last participation in the Caf Confederation Cup because there was no support from anywhere, so simply, put Medeama is not ready to play in Africa. We don't have the adequate funds to participate," he added.

Medeama reached the group stage of the Caf Confederation Cup in 2016.
