McKinley-GhanaHomePage Collaboration Update

A MESSAGE FROM MCKINLEY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO THE READERS OF GHANA HOME PAGE NEWS

Dear Readers:
In this day and age with the abundance of technology and communication options we have open to us, very few individuals make an effort to use technology efficiently. The students of McKinley High School have decided to use our school's technology to learn from the people of Ghana and to share our commonalties as well as our differences.

By special invitation of GhanaHomePage CEO, Mr. F. Akoto, we have been given a chance to establish a relationship between this Ghanaian news organization and our high school, as well as a chance to open a dialogue among high school students in Ghana and America that under normal circumstances probably would not exist. Few individuals are granted the opportunity and time for such a project as this. We believe this is the first time any one school or class has performed a task like this for an entire school year. Through this newly formed collaboration the students of both nations will better understand the diversity amongst different cultures, and explore things that are considered foreign to each other.

We, the students of McKinley High School, are fortunate to have this time to use the Internet as a tool for engaging in mutual understanding of each other's cultures. Our goal is to break through barriers and recognize that whether we are from Ghana or the United States there are different ways of living. Although we may look, talk and act differently, we are also very much alike. We are all students, living, growing learning and trying to better understand life on our blue marble.

Sincerely,
Julie Saddleson
