May Coronavirus not stall the fulfillment of 'the year of roads' – Franklin Cudjoe

President of policy think tank Imani Africa, Franklin Cudjoe has made a fervent prayer against the novel coronavirus standing in the way of the fulfillment of the ‘year of roads’ promised by the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The NPP government has designated this year, 2020, as “the year of roads”, that’s a year for the construction of massive roads and road infrastructure across the country. The promise was made by Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta in Parliament as he presented the 2020 budget.

But in the face of the devastating coronavirus, Franklin Cudjoe fears that it may become a convenient excuse for the nonfulfillment of the promise of the provision of roads this year even though the deal put in place to secure funding for the construction of the roads, the Synohydro deal, was found to be faulty from the onset.

“Dear Father in heaven, keep us from harm’s way. Save our souls from the pestilence called Corona virus. Above all, please prevent our leaders who promised THE YEAR OF ROADS from unfairly blaming corona virus for reneging on it, at least for now, for so long before the SYNOHYDRO deal wàs struck, your prophets of policy illogicality did say to the government- the deal’s dependency on bartering bauxite was faulty. This is our prayer to you our Lord,” he prayed in a post sighted by MyNewsGh.com.

Imani Africa had pointed out that the “barter system” in the form of the Synohydro deal that the government sealed to use in the construction of roads is faulty.
