Mason jailed for stealing a motorbike

The Enchi District Magistrate court has sentenced a 27-year-old mason to 24 months imprisonment in hard labour for stealing a motorbike.

Francis Abeiku Quaicoe pleaded guilty to the charge of stealing and was convicted on his own plea.

Prosecuting, Police Detective Sergeant Joseph Kwadwo Agyare told the court presided over by his worship Eric Baah Boateng, that the complainant one Daniel Amedago is a farmer while the convict Quaicoe is a mason, both residents of Yiwabra Nkwanta in the Aowin Municipality of the Western North Region.

Detective Agyare said on November 4, 2019, the complainant parked his Haojin motorbike on his verandah and retired to bed.

He said in the early hours of November 5 at about 0400 hours, the convict went to the complainant’s house and stole the said motorbike.

The prosecution said while Quaicoe was pushing the motorbike, luck eluded him as he was spotted by a witness in the case who raised an alarm.

Detective Agyare said the accused was subsequently arrested and the complainant came to identify the motorbike as his.

He said the convict and the motorbike were then handed over to the police and during interrogation, Quaicoe admitted in his investigative cautioned statement of attempting to steal the said motorbike.
