Mason in court for defiling 15-year-old girl

The Akim Swedru Circuit Court in the Birim South District of the Eastern Region has admitted to bail, a 32-year-old mason resident in Akim Oda for defiling a 15-year-old girl.

The bail was to allow the prosecution to complete its investigation.

Yaw Bimpong, also called Alingoman, who was alleged to have forcibly had sex with the girl for two consecutive days in an uncompleted building, was ordered by the court to produce two sureties for his bail and would reappear on June 6.

Detective Police Inspector Fabian Sallah told the court, presided over by Mr Yaw Atta Sampong that the complainant, Nana Amma, a trader, and her sister, the victim, lived at Akim Oda in the Birim Central Municipality, with the accused person.

He said on March 25 this year, Nana Amma sent her sister to buy plantain for her, but later asked her to return the plantain to the seller since it was not mature, but the girl did not come back home.

Inspector Sallah stated that the mason saw the girl in the uncompleted building and that on March 27 and 28, 2013 he had repeatedly had sexual intercourse with the girl.

The prosecutor stated that Nana Amma later spotted her sister in the uncompleted building and sent her to the Police Station, where the victim disclosed that Alingoman had sexually assaulted her.

According to the prosecutor, a police medical report form was issued to the victim to attend the Akim Oda Government Hospital where the doctor detected that the victim had suffered a “breakage of hymen” in the her vagina.

Alingoman was, therefore, arrested by the Police and charged with the offence.
