A mason, Aderu Addy Tetteh, who threatened to kill his cousin after he accused him of selling their family land without informing him or the family has been arraigned for threat of death.

The suspect was put in a court presided over by Yaw Atta Sampong and charged with the offence of telling his cousin Adama Addy, a boxer trainer, that he would shoot him.

He has been granted bail in the sum of GHc 10,000 with two sureties, while the case has been adjourned to August 19, 2015.

Presenting the facts of the case, the prosecuting officer, Chief Inspector W. Nyadika, told the court that the suspect is a mason and a cousin of the complainant who is a boxer trainer.

According to him, both the accused person and the complainant live together in the same house and share a common inheritance relating to family land and property, adding that the complainant had been put in charge of family lands.

The prosecuting officer stated that the complainant on September 20, 2014 went to Adusa Mayra to check on some family lands and saw some persons developing property on some of the lands, so he inquired as to who gave permission to develop their properties there.

He said the complainant was informed that it was the mason who had sold the lands to them.

Furthermore, the police officer stated that the boxer trainer subsequently went and asked the accused person why he had sold the family property to some persons without informing the family or him since he had been put in charge of the lands.

In addition, he stated that the suspect did not take lightly to what the complainant told him and that resulted in a misunderstanding, with the mason threatening his cousin saying, “I will shoot you.”

He said the matter was reported to the police station, leading to the arrest of the suspect.

The prosecutor said the mason was arraigned after police concluded investigations.
