Martin Amidu should continue fighting ISOFOTON

Charles Owusu a Progressive People's Party (PPP) Communications team member, has commended former Attorney General, Martin Amidu, for making the Supreme Court put on hold all proceedings regarding the payment of judgement debt to Spanish firm, Isofoton and asking him to pursue the case till the end for the whole truth to be known.

Charles Owusu speaking to Peace FM on “Kokrokoo” Friday, hailed Mr. Amidu for showing courage and being resolute in his quest to unearth the truth.

The Supreme Court presided over by Justice S.K Date-Bah, by an interim order on Thursday, granted an application filed by Martin Amidu to put on hold further payment of the judgement debt to Isofoton.

The court also stayed all proceedings in respect of the case at the lower courts until a final determination of the suit challenging the constitutionality of the payment to Isofoton S.A.

The company has however received $ 1.3 million in payment of the debt from the government of Ghana, leaving a balance of $400,000.

Disgruntled about government’s conduct, Mr. Amidu dragged the Attorney General and Mr. Anane Agyei Forson, an agent of Isofoton S.A to the Supreme Court on July 24, 2012.

While the case was in court, he filed a motion asking the court to freeze further payment to the company until final verdict by the court. The court Thursday ruled in favour of Mr. Amidu’s application. “I congratulate him. He stood his grounds despite the insults, intimidation and all that. I congratulate him for pursuing the truth. I encourage him to continue with what he’s doing,” Mr Owusu said.

He also called on Ghanaians to uphold the spirit of patriotism and sense of nationalism in order to enhance the progress of the nation.
