March salary for UG staff stalls

Management of the University of Ghana is struggling to pay the salaries of teaching and non-teaching staff for the month of March, 2018.

A memo dated 21 March, 2018 signed by the Registrar, Mercy Haizel-Ashia said:

“The university community is informed that processing and release of compensation subvention for January and February, 2018, has been delayed; therefore, payment of March, 2018, salaries cannot be made as scheduled”.

It added that: “It is not possible to borrow for a third month to pay salaries” and that “efforts are being made by management to ensure that the delay does not prolong”.
