Man remanded for defiling 11-year-old pupil

Mankranso (Ash), Dec 16, GNA - A bicycle repairer who after helping himself to the delicious meals prepared by a primary four girl decided to gratify his sexual desire by defiling her, has been remanded by a magistrate's court at Mankranso.

The plea of Peter Akuda, also a farmer, was not taken and will re-appear on January 10.

Giving the facts of the case, Detective Police Chief Inspector George Nyansu told the court presided over by Mr Frank Owusu-Afriyie that on November 25, this year, Akuda invited the victim to assist him to prepare his meal.

He said after the accused had enjoyed the meal, he thought of a plan apparently to reward her for the cooking skills she displayed and invited the victim to come for money at around 2000 hours but she returned an hour later the same day only to be dragged into Akuda's room where she was sexually abused.

The victim complying with the accused person's warning not to tell anyone kept the ordeal to herself until after one week when she found the pain in her private part too unbearable and decided to tell her grandmother.

The prosecution said the grandmother who tried unsuccessfully to treat the pain in her private part by inserting some herbal preparation questioned the victim further.

The victim informed her biological mother that she had been defiled. A report was then made to the Mankranso police who arrested Akuda while the victim was taken to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) for treatment.

A medical investigation by KATH after the victim had been admitted for three days revealed that she had been defiled. Akuda admitted the offence after police interrogation and he was subsequently charged. 16 Dec. 05
