Man killed over woman

A 28-year-old man was stabbed to death last Monday night with a kitchen knife by a jealous man after a fight over a woman at Kakasunaka Number One in the Kpone-Katamanso District of Accra.

The suspect, Evans Martey, a taxi driver, was said to be suspecting that his fiancée was having an affair with the deceased, Evans Hammond, who, until his death, was a marketing officer with Kantinka FM at Agona Swedru.

Martey who resided near Hammond, was reported to be always accusing his fiancée of cheating on him with another man and had been monitoring the movements of his wife-to-be until he spotted the deceased walking with his fiancée who was then on her way to buy electricity prepaid credit at Mataheko near Kakasunaka Number One.

The suspect confronted his fiancée and accused her of having an affair with the deceased. Martey, out of annoyance, left his room to search for Hammond only to greet him with a hefty slap after locating him. This led to a street fight between them.

Martey was said to have pulled a knife from under his attire to stab Hammond in the left chest, causing him to bleed profusely from his chest and mouth.

Some friends and sympathizers who chanced on the scene were said to have rushed Hammond to the Tema General Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival by medics.

A medical doctor at the hospital said Hammond died out of haemophilic shock after the stabbing which injured his left chest.
