An unemployed man, Dickson Larbi, alias Puplampu, has been arraigned before an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly attacking and robbing a seamstress at Sakumono in Accra.
Larbi has been charged with unlawful entry, assault and robbery. He pleaded not guilty when he appeared before the court, presided over by Isaac Addo.
The court admitted Larbi to bail in the sum of GH¢200,000 with three sureties, one of whom must justify the bond with landed property.
He is expected to reappear before the court on August 17, 2026.
Presenting the facts, Chief Inspector Josephine Lamptey told the court that the complainant, Pauline Dankwa-Smith, is a seamstress residing at Sakumono, while Larbi is unemployed and has no fixed place of residence.
The prosecution said that on June 22, 2026, Dankwa-Smith spotted Larbi in the backyard of her house near the water meter.
According to the prosecution, Larbi signalled to her not to raise an alarm, but she screamed for help and attempted to escape.
Chief Inspector Lamptey said Larbi allegedly rushed towards the complainant, pushed her to the ground, pointed a sharp metallic object at her and demanded her mobile phone.

Despite the complainant’s cries for help, Larbi allegedly seized her phone, discarded it shortly afterwards and attempted to escape by scaling the compound wall.
However, residents reportedly found him hiding in the ceiling of a neighbouring house and handed him over to the police.
Police investigations subsequently led to the retrieval of a pair of scissors, a hat and slippers believed to belong to Larbi from the scene.
The prosecution further told the court that investigations established that Larbi had recently been released from prison after serving a sentence for a similar offence.
Larbi, however, denied the allegations in his caution statement, claiming that he had gone to the complainant’s residence in search of scrap metal.
