Man butchers friend in Eastern Region

The Akyemansa Police Command in the Eastern region has launched a manhunt for an assailant who butchered his friend on Thursday.

The victim, Kwasi Ofori, died this dawn at the hospital despite efforts by doctors to keep him alive.

The assailant absconded after the crime.

Narrating the incident to Starr News, the Akyemansa District Police Commander, DSP Ofosu Anim said the incident occurred around 8pm at Akyem Akokoaso but the Police received the information about 11pm.

DSP Anim said the suspect, Kwabena Kwakye and the deceased were friends but on the fateful day the suspect lured the deceased to escort him but shockingly inflicted cutlass wounds on the neck and head and took to his heels.

The Police is yet to establish the circumstances that motivated Kwakye to commit the heinous crime.

According to the district Commander, it took the intervention of some good Samaritans who rushed the deceased who was bleeding profusely to the hospital.

He said the police are investigating the murder case and has launched manhunt for the arrest of the suspect.
