Man beheads mother

Banso (Ash), Sept 4, GNA The Juaso police have arrested a 29-year-old unemployed for allegedly beheading his mother, Akosua Serwaah, at Banso near Obogu in the Asante-Akim South District. Kwame Ahenkorah is said to have murdered his mother for not showing concern for his ailment and he suspected his mother was the cause of the ailment.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency at Juaso, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Isaac Owusu Dompreh, the acting District Police Commander, said the suspect who claimed to have felt an object in his stomach, consulted a fetish priest for assistance but to no avail. He said Ahenkorah had been threatening the mother to remove the object from his stomach since she gave birth to him or he would kill her.

On August 31, the suspect slashed the mother's upper part of her head with a sharp cutlass from behind while she was sweeping. Ahenkorah slashed the back of her neck twice and with only the esophagus keeping the head and body together he took to his heels. Mr Dompreh said the suspect was arrested the following day at Juaso.
