An 18-year-old private security personnel, Daniel Kyei Baffour, has been arrested by the Amasaman District Police for attempted murder and abduction.

The suspect allegedly sent his four-year-old nephew to a Mallam to be sacrificed for money rituals.

The arrest occurred around 8.00 Wednesday night at Pobiman in the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.

According to the police, one Mallam Bawa called to inform police that someone was attempting to slaughter a boy for sika duro.

A team of police patrol was immediately dispatched to the Pobiman, where the crime was to be committed.

The police found Dabiel Kyei Baffour and his 4-year-old nephew and victim in the shrine of the Mallam.

When accosted, Daniel told the police he had come to the Mallam to help him get rich, and was arrested.

Daniel Kyei Baffour confessed in his caution statement to the police that he was lured into the act by peer pressure.

He said all his friends were rich and so he needed to do something to get to the same level.

The junior high school (JHS) graduate said he got to known the Mallam through posters and billboards and decided to contact him.

Daniel told TV3 that he offered to provide human being instead of a fowl as suggested by Mallam Bawa to ensure that his riches would be beyond bounds.

According to the police, Daniel refused to lead them to his residence at Ofankor, insisting he did not want his relatives to know what he was going to do.

It took the effort of the 4-year-old victim for the police to locate the Ofankor residence.

Daniel Kyei Baffour is to be put before court charged with abduction, child stealing and attempted murder.
