Man arrested after gunning down suspected ‘wizard’

Police in the Northern Region have confirmed the arrest of a 30-year-old farmer, Iddrisu Ziblim who killed an 80-year-old man he accused of being a wizard and therefore is responsible for his father’s death.

Iddrisu Ziblim accused the deceased Mumuni Neendoo of being responsible for his 72-year-old death after he fell ill at Kunyavula, a farming community in the area.

The deceased is reported to have visited the home of the suspect to commiserate with him on the death of his father but Iddrisu Ziblim out of anger dashed into the room and returned with a single barrel gun and shot him at close range to death.

After the incident, he was reported to have fled the community until his arrest by the police who reveal that after investigations, he would be arraigned before court and charged with the offense.

Crime Officer for the Northern Regional Police Command, Superintendent Otuo Acheampong who confirmed the arrest to MyNewsGh.com but declined further comment on the matter.

Meanwhile, suspect Iddrisu Ziblim is in police custody and expected to be arraigned before court later this week.
