A private investment company located at East Legon, Accra, Man Capital Partners, last week paid the medical bills of ten (10) mothers who were finding it difficult to pay for their bills at the Maternity Department of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH).

The total cost of the bill covering the 10 mothers who had all delivered successfully was GHC10,000.00.

In addition to footing the medical bills of the 10 mothers, Man Capital Partners donated boxes of Kleesoft washing powder, toiletries, diapers, disinfectants among other baby items.

Also, each of the 10 mothers was given GHC50.00 to be used to pick a car to their various homes.

Making the donation, Operations Manager of Man Capital Partners, Anass Abdulai, indicated that his outfit was moved by the plights of mothers who after delivery at the Maternity Ward of KBTH struggled to pay their hospital bills.

According to him, this was not the first time that his outfit (Man Capital Partners) was making such a donation.

“…Last year [2016] we were in other similar institutions where we donated items to patients. But Korle Bu as we all know is the country’s premier hospital so therefore we deemed it more appropriate to lend our support by making this donation to the Maternity Ward,” Mr. Anass said.

He also disclosed that Man Capital Partners, which has its headquarters at East Legon in Accra, started operations in 2008, and has branches in Tamale and Ho with a soon-to-be opened one in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.

To this end, Mr. Anass used the opportunity to call on other corporate companies to support Korle Bu.

“This way, we will all be contributing our quota in making Ghana a prosperous country,” he indicated.

For his part, Deputy Director of Nursing Services (DDNS) of the Maternity Department of KBTH, who received the items on behalf the Chief Nursing Officer, Mrs. Philomena Tamakloe, thanked Man Capital Partners and described the gesture as a ‘welcome relief’ to her outfit.

According to her, the donation has come at an opportune time which will go a long way to help her outfit discharge some of the mothers who had already been discharged but for lack of money had to still be at the Ward.

“Indeed this gesture by Man Capital Partners has relieved us of our headaches—so many patients have been discharged and are still on the wards. They are still being fed, occupying beds that emergencies are supposed to occupy, which situation leads to congestion at the wards,” she said.

Mrs. Nsiah gave the firm assurance that the items would be shared among the 10 patients, stressing that “we do not take items that are donated to patients.”

She also seized the chance to urge other companies and philanthropists to come and support the Maternity Department of KBTH.

One of the beneficiary mothers, who spoke on behalf of her colleagues, Victoria Koranteng, expressed appreciation to Man Capital Partners for the donation.

She pleaded for other companies to come to the aid of many more mothers who find themselves in the same situation at the Maternity Department of KBTH.
