Man, 52, commits suicide after killing friend and two-year-old daughter

A 52-year-old man Kwame Landi, has committed suicide after he killed his two-year daughter and a 32-year-old friend at Duwan Nkwata near Teper Mankranso in a bizarre circumstance.

The bizarre circumstance, which occurred on Saturday, has shocked residents because the man is said to have carried out the act unprovoked.

Narrating the incident to Rainbowradioonline.com, Rainbow Radio’s Sir Fresh said, the 52-year-old man; Kwame Landi sharpened a knife, which he used to slaughter a goat. The wife is said to have quizzed what he was going to use the goat for.

In response to the question the wife asked, the man told the wife to prepare because he would kill her after slaughtering the goat. Fearing for her life, the wife, escaped with her two-year-old daughter, to the nearest house to narrate the ordeal to the friend of her husband.

Few minutes later, Kwame Landi followed the wife to where she had escaped to wielding the sharpened knife. Sensing danger, his friend, Yaw Peter, approached Kwame Landi and enquired from him what the problem was.

However, Kwame Landi refused to say anything. According to Sir Fresh, Yaw Peter convinced him to return home. Kwame Landi who made an attempt to return home turned back and slashed him with the sharp knife twice.

In an attempt to save himself from the knife attack, Yaw Peter tried to pick a stick to hit Kwame Landi but unfortunately fell. Kwame Landi reportedly pounced on Yaw Peter and stabbed him multiple times until he died.

He later pounced on his wife and that of Yaw Peter who was at the time carrying his [Landi’s] daughter.

The daughter fell when the two made an attempt to escape from the knife-wielding Kwame Landi. He then slashed the daughter in the neck, which led to her death instantly, Sir Fresh indicated.

Kwame Landi after slashing the daughter to death killed himself, Sir Fresh added.

Speaking to Yaw Fresh after the incident, wife of Kwame Landi, Abena Bena, 32, said, her husband was not mentally challenged neither was he bothered about anything.

She disclosed they attended a church service a day before Saturday in Kumasi and the late husband carried out the bizarre act on Saturday unprovoked.
