A 28-year old mason identified as Kwasi Mfum is reported to have committed suicide in his home on new year's eve at Akyem Hemang in the Fanteakwa District of the Eastern region.

Kwadwo Asiedu a local resident of the area, who spoke to ultimatefmonline.com, indicates that his relatives suspect foul play in his death and are demanding that the police thoroughly investigate the matter to unearth those behind his death.

According to him, on the evening of December 31, 2016 while other persons were preparing for night vigils, the deceased came home and went straight into his room and nothing was heard of him again.

The following morning while other tenants were thanking God and exchanging pleasantries for seeing a new year, the deceased had still not been spotted compelling relations to break into his room only to be greeted with the shock of their lives.

“He fastened a sponge on his neck and hanged it on frame of the door. This is a hardworking mason who is not known to have any problems with anyone at all in the community”, he revealed.

The body has since been conveyed to the Fanteakwa District hospital pending autopsy to determine the actual cause of death.
