Politicians seldom open up to the public about all situations in their lives, especially those that shamed them into changing a bad habit in one way other.

The Majority Leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu has however opened up about a day he was soaked in shame at a public event over an incident involving his little son.

In an interview with Joy News, the Majority leader revealed the occasion was his 60th anniversary when his little son was called upon to the tell the crowd something special about his father, and to the shock of all present, the little boy asked the gathering to persuade his father (The Majority Leader) to come home early and spend time with the family.

The Majority leader confessed his embarrassment about the episode. “I was so shame-faced”, the seasoned NPP Lawmaker said with sadness in his face.

“The earliest time I leave my office is 9pm but the usual time I leave is 10pm or 11pm and to that extent you wont have quality time with your family and my wife is always complaining, and I was so much shame-faced when last year into my 60th year anniversary the opportunity was given to my children to come and say something about me and the event. The young boy who came said to all of them that they should persuade his father ‘to come home early and spend time with the family, he is not having time for family'”, the Suame MP and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs recounted.

“I was so shame-faced. Ever since then I changed. Before then I use to leave home around 5:30am and quarter to 6 to get to the office around 6am, 6:30am. Sometimes when I decide to go to the constituency, or probably attend a workshop over the weekend they don’t get to see me at all.. sometimes about a month and they haven’t seen their dad which certainly is not the best. I am cutting down my busy schedule”, he said.
