Maid murdered for refusing sex

The airport police have launched a search for a 25-year-old private security officer for allegedly killing a house help for refusing him sex.

The suspect, Adams Rahman, who works with Akaa Security Company - a private security company located at Adabraka, Accra - reportedly committed the act after the deceased, identified as Safia Seidu, 25, purportedly rejected his sexual overtures.

Confirming the story to DAILY GUIDE, Chief Superintendent Yao Tetega, the Airport District Police Commander said the incident occurred at Dzorwulu on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at the residence of a Lebanese – currently outside the country.

Adams Rahman, employed by the private security company, was assigned to the house to secure it at night.

Police on Wednesday evening received information that a house help had been murdered at Dzorwulu and when they were preparing to leave for the crime scene, one Alhassan Suleman, a houseboy, also came to the station to report the matter.

According to Alhassan Suleman, their employer travelled outside the country that very day and so he, together with Safia and Rahman, were the only people left in the house.

Suleman posited that, that evening, he was with the deceased but asked to be excused to go and buy some food and so Safia requested for a bottle of soft drink and left for the bathroom to have a shower.

Upon his return, Suleman said a neighbour called him at the gate to report that he (neighbour) heard an unusual noise in the house earlier.

He said when he entered the house, he went straight to the boys quarters where Safia resides to find out what happened, but after calling her name several times without any responds, he entered the house.

Suleman said when he entered the main corridor, he saw some blood stains in front of Safia’s room but when he opened the door, she was not there.

Suleman then traced the blood to some parked vehicles and spotted the deceased lying dead and naked in between the cars.

Frightened, Suleman said he went to the neighbour to find out the whereabouts of Rahman, but was told he was spotted leaving the house through the back door.

Preliminary investigations by the police revealed that Rahman earlier made several sexual advances towards the deceased, but she turned him down.

When the deceased got fed up with the harassment of Rahman, she reportedly told a driver of their master to intervene.

Upon hearing that he had been reported to the driver, the suspect allegedly got infuriated and attacked Safia.

When the naked body was examined by the police, multiple knife wounds were found on it.

The knife used in killing Safia – who has a seven-year-old daughter – was also discovered at the crime scene.

The body has since been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue awaiting autopsy.

Meanwhile, efforts are being made to apprehend Adams Rahman. His security company had also been contacted by the police to help trace him.
